Mother Teresa once said —
"The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved."
How many times in a week do we get angry at the way people talk to us, cut us off while driving or by waiting in lines?
In our society, to compensate for the loss of love in our hearts, we tend to fill the gap with material items.
Luke 10:27 - "And he answered, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."
Buddhist Parable: One day as the Buddha was sitting under a tree, a young, trim soldier walked by, looked at the Buddha, noticed his weight and his fat, and said: “You look like a pig!” The Buddha looked up calmly at the soldier and said: “And you look like God!” Taken aback by the comment, the soldier asked the Buddha: “Why do you say that I look like God?” The Buddha replied: “Well, we don’t really see what’s outside of ourselves, we see what’s inside of us and project it out. I sit under this tree all day and I think about God, so that when I look out, that’s what I see. And you, you must be thinking about other things!”
Often times we project hate and destructive thoughts onto other people around us because inside that is how we feel about ourselves. We often do not stop to see what kind of condition the people around us are because we are caught up in our own lives. We need to focus on others in order to reach our goal of making it to heaven, because that is what makes love grow. If we communicate together more often then we shall never feel alone and unloved. Since God is in all of us, then if we put God at the center of our lives, then we will have less hate in us and we will project love onto the people around us. Thus, causing a community that strives to better eachother creates peace within.
The Peace Prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is error, the truth; Where there is doubt, the faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Corinthians 13:4-7 - "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
God is in the church and in every single person on the earth. The earth is God's. We need to treat it all as the sacred space that it is. We should pray for paitence next time we are in traffic - considering that person may be having a worse day than us. This can help you to not to get upset when they do something mean. People need your love the most, when they appear to deserve it the least.
Nothing man-made can fill the gap of love. Only through our God can we truly find love and happiness. Once we find that, then we will be able to spread the love to others that is provided by God. You cannot give what you do not have - so get yourself some of God's infinite Love.
Be Patient. Be Kind. Be Forgiving. Be Strong. Be Loving.
in God i believe.
God Bless!!
